What is GM Detector?
GM Detector is HLBot's account protection system. It monitors nearby players in real-time and triggers automatic safety actions when a Game Master is detected, keeping your account safe during unattended bot sessions.
Protection layers
HLBot includes four separate detection modules that work together:
- GM Detector: triggers when a Game Master appears within render range. Supports invisible /obs mode detection and custom admin name lists
- Player Detector: triggers on any player entering range, with a whitelist for your alts and party members
- Chat Detector: monitors in-game chat for keywords like "bot" or "check" from admins
- Purge Detector: detects when an admin despawns all mobs in the area, a common technique to identify bot users
Response actions
Each detector can trigger any combination of: sound alert, auto-logout, close game, channel switch, stop all bot functions, on-screen notification, and window highlighting. You can configure different responses for different threat levels.
Why it matters
Account safety is the #1 concern when botting. HLBot's multi-layer detection system lets you run farming sessions overnight with confidence. If anything suspicious happens, the bot reacts before a human ever could.
